Sports for National Development

Sport promotes National Unity

Sports to be used as tool for children in the rural areas, slums and poor communities to combat social problems and to offer a sporting chance to succeed.Sports needs to be promoted and developed on a wide scale in order to achieve maximum benefits. Unfortunately, this has not been the case, as sport development is marginalized by the governments both National and state, in budgetary allocations. Private corporations need to step in to make up this deficit in funding.

Sport has the power to transcend boundaries of sex, race, religion and nationality. It promotes health and wellness, improves self-esteem, and teaches leadership, team skills and perseverance.

Sport promotes National Unity and is a forum that can bring people together for a common goal.Giving the youth a sporting chance epitomizes the philosophy of inspiring the kids through sport, to be positive and to accept the challenges in life.Youth sports programs in the rural areas, slums of cities & towns bring hope to the lives of thousands of destitute children .

Bringing Together Divided Communities

Sports is a Tool for Social Inclusion and Social Change

Helps marginalized children, by creating an environment to unite people across gender, race, religion, or socioeconomic background. Sport can create bridges where boundaries usually exist, giving participants lessons in teamwork, empathy for their teammates and respect for their opponents.

Ask any sports participant what they love most about their involvement and they are sure to mention the bonds forged with their teammates. This is the case even when teams are made up of kids from different ethnic, socioeconomic, religious or cultural backgrounds.

Sports provide opportunities for marginalized and underprivileged groups, such as disadvantaged castes and people at risk of discrimination, to interact and integrate with other social groups.”

Children learn sportsmanship and other life skills

Sport stresses the positive effects of participation, by learning the important life skills of goal setting , development of a strong sense of morality and the development of an appreciation of diversity.

Introduces Children to Peaceful Contests. Youth can gain self-esteem

Children need opportunities to play sport because having recreational time is a fundamental part of growing up

Studies have shown that involvement in sports have been related to one having better cognitive functioning as well as higher grades and test scores, satisfaction in school, engagement in school, aspirations for college, and lower dropout rates

Keeping Kids Out Of Crime

Participating in sports brings down the crime rate, makes an impact on school dropouts, create positive attitude and hope among thousands of children in the slums.

Being surrounded by a supportive group of people with similar goals, as in playing a sport, “can alleviate the negative effects of poverty.”

Successful sportspersons are role models and a source of inspiration to all the children in the slums and rural areas.

Development of women sports

Women in sports defy gender stereotypes, make inspiring role models, and show men and women as equals.

For the past few decades, sexist attitudes prevented women and girls from participating in most sports.

If women’s sport brings things that are valued, e.g. remuneration, educational scholarships, transferable skills, media exposure, travel opportunities, or access to vital resources, then it will be more keenly encouraged and embraced.

Career in sports

Sport industry has the potential for employment opportunities to tap talents of the experienced players in coaching, administration, officiating, physical fitness training and sport science etc.

Sports is a career option to make great wealth for individual athletes, some of whom go on to become major philanthropists, sporting ambassadors and development advocates.
